HP 59.XX error code
Motor rotation fault
The HP 59 error family usually indicates a rotation fault in a main or auxiliary motor: the motor does not start, or its feedback is invalid. The subcode identifies the motor involved.
What does this error mean?
The motor itself may be responsible, but a jammed component or an incorrectly installed supply, such as toner or an imaging unit, can also obstruct the drive. It is therefore worth checking the supplies first.
What can you safely try?
- 01Open the doors and check that the toner cartridge and imaging unit are properly seated.
- 02Open the doors and covers and carefully remove all jammed paper from the paper path, including small scraps. The area around the fuser may be hot; wait a few minutes there.
- 03Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait a few minutes, then switch it back on. Some temporary faults clear this way.
When should you call a technician?
If the supplies are correctly installed and the code returns, call a technician: the motor or drive needs to be checked.
Do you rent out or manage printers?
If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
