DCA agent.Installed in five minutes.
The PrinterMS DCA agent monitors printers at your site: it reads meter values, toner levels and errors, and sends them to PrinterMS. Install it on Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi, macOS or Docker, from a single free download.
For every platform
Windows
Digitally signed installer (Setup.exe). Displays the activation code in a window with a copy button.
Linux and Raspberry Pi
One command in the terminal. The installer verifies the downloaded program before starting it.
macOS
The same verified, one-line installation as Linux. Continues running as a system service.
Docker
A container image pinned by digest, if your server already runs containers. The container log displays the code.
Three steps to printer monitoring
1. Install
Download the installer from agent.printerms.com, or run the one-line command on a computer on the same network as the printers. No sign-in is required and the command contains no secret, so you can also run it through a remote management tool.
2. Get the code
The agent displays an activation code in ABCD-EFGH format. Until you approve it, it performs no discovery and sends no printer data. It automatically replaces an expired code.
3. Approve
Enter the code on the Networks page in PrinterMS, check the computer’s name, address and networks, then link it to a new or existing network. The first discovery starts a few seconds later.
What your IT administrator will ask
- Outbound to the cloud
- HTTPS, api.printerms.com, port 443
- To the printers
- SNMP, UDP 161 (optionally IPP, TCP 631)
- Inbound
- No open port, no remote desktop
- For installation
- Local administrator privileges on the computer
The agent only makes outbound connections, only reads from printers, and never sees documents or print jobs. The security notice sets out the complete data list, firewall rules and removal steps; the DCA agent terms explain the conditions of use. The DCA monitoring page shows how you can use the data, and the supported printers list covers the models we have tested.
