Ricoh SC546 error code

Unstable fuser temperature

Ricoh SC546 usually means that the fuser temperature is unstable during operation: the measured value fluctuates more than permitted. Possible causes include the thermistor, a poor connection or wear in the fuser assembly.

What does this error mean?

An unstable temperature can also cause poor fusing, leaving prints smudged or toner that rubs off, so the printer stops instead. Like the other SC54x codes, this relates to the fuser assembly.

What can you safely try?

  1. 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.

When should you call a technician?

If the code returns, call a technician to check or replace the fuser assembly.

Do you rent out or manage printers?

If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
